[Event] Round Table 02 “Chikuwa Club, Let's Start. In Chiba, We'll Gather and Connect” (Held on Oct. 26)

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, a dialogue-based workshop will be held at the regional base “Arts Unagi” for the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025. We hope you can join us!

Why not use the “art festival” as an excuse to make your “life in Chiba” more enjoyable?

The “Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025”, set to open in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, in 2025, is a new type of art festival that emphasizes active participation from the people living in Chiba City, involving them in the production process through “art project-based” initiatives. We are currently advancing our plans for this festival.

But what exactly is an art festival? What do we each imagine when we think of “art” and “festival”? If we're going to hold this event, can we create an opportunity that enriches the daily lives of the people living in this town, brings joy, and inspires them to start something new?

With these thoughts in mind, we decided to establish the “Chikuwa Club (a club for talking about Chiba, creating together, and connecting)”. The founders are members residing in Chiba City who are involved in the planning and operation of the “Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025”. The “Chikuwa Club” is a dialogue-based workshop event designed for people connected to Chiba City, regardless of their affiliation or title, to meet and discuss under the “excuse” of the arts festival.

The regional hub “Arts Unagi”, remodeled from a former unagi (grilled eel) restaurant.

The venue for the first session is “Arts Unagi”, one of the regional hubs for the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025. Originally a long-established unagi (grilled eel) restaurant that closed about ten years ago, it is being renovated by various people as a result of this art festival, aiming to be reborn with a new purpose.

We would be delighted if those who feel that “art festivals” are far removed from their daily lives could participate. Whether you're someone who wants to take a peek at Arts Unagi, someone looking for new connections in Chiba City, someone interested in culture and the arts, or someone who wants to engage with the community, you are all very welcome.

Would you like to spend some time at “Chikuwa Club” brainstorming and developing ideas together, thinking about how to enhance our enjoyable lives?
