[Event] Yoshinari Nishio: “Machiba no Machibari”
From February 2025, artist Yoshinari Nishio will hold workshops on clothing-making at Nishi-Chiba Workshop. Details will be announced as they are finalized. We look forward to your participation!
Become a “tailor” who connects people through clothing!
This workshop aims to nurture local tailors in Chiba, focusing on a creative approach to clothing-making rather than striving for perfection as traditional tailors do. Participants will learn the art of free clothing design, akin to temporarily pinning with a basting pin.
As participants engage in the workshops, those who are certified as “town tailors” will create unique clothing based on their innovative ideas and techniques, catering to local workwear and individual requests. These unique garments will foster new connections within the community, with the town tailors acting as pins that link relationships among people in Chiba.
Both participants and those who view the creations will experience the everyday act of “wearing clothes” as a form of creative and expressive activity, leading to a deeper understanding of the relationship between oneself and society.
