[Exhibition] Independent Art Exhibition for Teachers (Held from February 19th to March 2nd)

As a pre-event for the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025, we are hosting an independent art exhibition for teachers. By showcasing teachers as creators, we aim to inspire creativity in students and those around them. We hope this exhibition will serve as a springboard for future artistic initiatives.

Through Art, Towards a City Where Everyone Can Cherish "Freedom"

From February 19th to March 2nd, we will be holding the Independent Art Exhibition for Teachers as a pre-event for the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025.

The participants in this exhibition are "teachers" working in Chiba City. In the "Andepandan" format, which allows anyone to freely display their work without any judgment or selection process, we called for submissions within Chiba City, and a variety of artworks have been collected by the application deadline. We invite you to visit the exhibition and experience the free expressions of those who are both "teachers" and "artists."

*Andepandan refers to an exhibition format where anyone can present their work without judgment. The term comes from the French word "indépendant," which in English translates to "independent" or "self-reliant." It embodies the spirit of artists who pursue their own paths and create works independently. Art is not something that only a specific group of people can express; it is an expansive medium in which anyone can create and engage.

The visual image for the exhibition was created by Masato Nakamura, the director of the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025, an artist, and a professor and vice president at the Tokyo University of the Arts. His drawing, with flowing lines that depict "freedom," carries a message that celebrates "free expression" and emphasizes the importance of cherishing moments when we can break free from our daily roles, occupations, and identities.

During the main event of the Chiba City Arts Triennale 2025 in the fall of 2025, there will also be an Andepandan exhibition for residents, workers, and students in Chiba City. Through this initiative, we aim to create a community where everyone values their own expression, unleashes their creativity, and can embrace "freedom" through art.

We invite you to join us at this exhibition, marking an important step toward this vision.
