Kazuhiko Hiwa

Born in Osaka. Completed M.F.A at the Graduate School of Art, Kyoto University of the Arts.
He creates video works and performances exploring themes of physicality. His ”HIWADROME” series, an installation work, uses wheelchairs as a material which are also used for his own mobility, and serves as a foundational line of his practice.
Through traveling, workshops and architectural interventions, he examines and proposes new perspectives on mobility and accessibility in his project “walkingpractice™.” He also develops “DRAWING EXPERIMENT,” created mainly with painting, “TRAIL by walkingpractice™,” a road-surface recording project using a wheelchair weaving machine and noise sound gigs featuring the “electric wheelchair sound generator.”
