TENMASEN Project Team
Starting in Himi City, Toyama Prefecture, the art project has traveled around the city to the Kanda River in 2021 and the Nihonbashi River in 2023.
The next stage will be the Hanamigawa River, which is positioned as the arts field for the Chiba International Art Triennale in 2025.The Hanamigawa River is a first-class river located downstream from the Shinkawa River as the Inba-numa discharge channel. The construction of the floodway took 250 years, starting from the Edo period. It improved water transportation and logistics linking the area to Edo, and played a role in protecting people’s lives from flooding.Although it is located close to an urban area, the area preserves a beautiful natural landscape and has become a habitat for wild birds and freshwater fish, and is a popular area for people to stroll and enjoy. When we consider this historical perspective as a foundational culture, the value of the Hanamigawa River as a local resource is immeasurable.Through this art project, we hope that everyone will experience the richnessness of this riverside space and have the opportunity to change their cultural and environmental awareness.
