[Workshop to make a model for theme park]
Hold workshops to make building models with a title “Theme Park of Chiba City” in after-school activities and facilities in several wards in Chiba City.
Various people including children and adults collect information on well-known places they would like to introduce, sceneries which they only know or things they are proud of in Chiba and make a model.
Through the workshop, it is expected that children can find new views by thinking about the place they normally live and have new interests by seeing other participants’ works.
[How to make a model for theme park]
In this workshop, we use actual materials and tools which are used for architect’s models. We will mainly use styrofoam and styrene board, and even a material such as heating wires which can rarely be seen in daily life or school classes. One of the characteristics of this workshop is that children can use parts shaped in the form of Chiba City letter motif found by Kuribara while he was doing research within Chiba City. Children can directly touch and use many parts, and create models with staff based on free thinking.
[About exhibition]
About 200 models made in the workshop are collected in one place to create and exhibit a huge building model. Images of “Chiba City” that each child sees, thinks and feels are put together and shapes Chiba City. At the venue, we are planning to prepare a workshop space, a section to introduce recommended spots in Chiba by category, a viewing and experience section using the exhibition hall itself as a theme park, etc. Everyone including workshop participants and visitors will produce this theme park as cast.
