Parallel World Model collaborators wanted

Yuka Numata’s art project “Parallel World” is looking for models to participate in a photo shoot. The photos will be mosaic-processed and displayed as part of the “Parallel World” exhibition.

We will transform an unused station platform into a parallel world.

We will transform the unused platform of Chiba Urban Monorail’s Kencho-mae Station into a fictional platform in a parallel world, and present a visual experience-based installation themed around “everyday bugs.”
In this work, we assume that the platform at Prefectural Office Station, despite its physical existence, is unnoticed in daily life—a situation we refer to as “everyday bugs.” Within this bug, we will create a platform in a parallel world where fictional passengers exist. Is the world we inhabit reality, or is it a bug within a virtual space akin to a game? We hope that when people wait for the monorail while looking at their smartphones and glance up, they will notice something different and feel a sense of unease.


As part of this project, we are soliciting models to be incorporated into the parallel world. Photography will take place on the unused platform of Chiba Urban Monorail Kencho-mae Station, which is normally off-limits to the public. The photographed data will be mosaic-processed and displayed on the platform during the exhibition period.

Photography and Video Recording

Photography and video recording will be conducted on the day for promotional and record-keeping purposes. Media outlets may also conduct interviews and filming. Photographs and videos taken may be published on the Chiba International Art Festival website, social media, brochures, and other promotional materials, as well as on television, magazines, and other media. We kindly ask for your understanding in advance.

This project is an installation themed “Daily Bugs” based on visual experience. At Kencho-Mae station, a terminal station of Chiba Urban Monorail, there is an unused platform – because the extension of the station was given up during the peak period due to various problems. Assuming that empty space like this is a place which exists in parallel with the real world, she will restructure it in the form of an installation. Viewers will find the “real-world defects” hidden in space where they don’t usually see, and are given an opportunity to question their own perception of urban areas. The work creates a world where people are waiting for monorail which is not supposed to come on the unused platform. These people are real citizens recruited beforehand and we will shoot images of them actually standing on the platform. Making humans that exist in the real world a motif would be a trigger to imply another world border – a parallel world. The work gives viewers a trick of eliminating the existence of humans from a certain angle using the structure of lenticular panels which changes images by angle. It provides a new light on the socially impractical architectural space and the issue of urban decay caused by the existence of intact space. This project aims to reconnect urban areas and memories by giving users and visitors of the place an extraordinary experience mixed in daily life. Yuka Numata

Born in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture in 1992. Completed Conservation Course – Oil Paintings, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2022. In recent years, she produces works with motifs like computer bugs or space bugs using materials such as perler beads, etc. Main exhibitions include “Reality and Error” (Chofu Culture Hall “Tazukuri,” 2025), and “Art Festival in 100 Years” (Ichihara City, Chiba, 2024). A commissioned work for NIKE Jordan Brand is exhibited in the World of Flight Tokyo Shibuya.
