This exhibition is a result presentation of the art project “Marking Pins of Urban District” by artist Yoshinari Nishio. A total of 13 workshops are held from last year’s pre-event planning through October 2025. Old clothes collected within the community are used as materials and “Person of XX” is the theme in each workshop – “Person of Sound”, “Person of Dried Scabs”, “Person of Overlap Width”, “Person of Dirt” and “Person of Buttons”. Participants challenge clothes making using handcraft methods by cutting, glueing and sawing.

If participants take part in more than 4 workshops, they can join the special workshop “Person of Tailor Made.” If they complete their clothes there, they are accredited as a “Machi-Machi Tailor” as a citizen artist. At this exhibition venue, Machi-Machi tailors take orders from visitors based on their unique ideas and methods.

“Machi-Machi Market” open under the elevated railroad next to the park is a product trade fair and a workplace of Machi-Machi Tailors. Visitors can encounter unique products as they go around a structure made based on the image of “huge product shelves.” They can also order clothes made by Machi-Machi Tailors. Visitors consider the relationship between themselves and clothing while communicating through an order sheet. When they give a subject to a Machi-Machi Tailor, each tailor will become the “Person of XX.” Machi-Machi During the exhibition period, tailors make clothes inside Machi-Machi Market based on the subject given by visitors. Machi-Machi Tailors and Machi-Machi Market will put people together as marking pins of Chiba holding sections together and create a new clothing landscape and exchanges in an urban community of Chiba.

You can order clothes using an order sheet at the venue.Machi-Machi Tailors will choose a theme from collected orders and make clothes at the exhibition venue. Made-to-order clothes will be displayed at the venue as part of the exhibition. We would like you to order clothes for yourself at the venue!

Photography and video recording will be conducted on the day for promotional and record-keeping purposes. Media outlets may also conduct interviews and filming. Photographs and videos taken may be published on the Chiba International Art Festival website, social media, brochures, and other promotional materials, as well as on television, magazines, and other media.
