PSYCHOBUILDING®
September 19 (Fri) - November 24 (Mon, substitute holiday), 2025
Success builds a symbiotic yet parasitic relationship with an individual, person, or object. From an economic standpoint, it is a device for exploiting labor, an exploitation system in disguise that functions by co-opting personal traits like productivity, talent, beauty, strength, intelligence, and skill. Success poses as a meaningful story, but actually restricts individual action.
Motivation does not depend on the recognition of others or material reward. It comes from within, spurred by your interests and sense of accomplishment. Ambition, though, is based on groundless assumptions, on various what ifs, and more often than not, mere illusion.
The circumstances at any given point in time influence our choices, shaping our sense of meaning. But meaning does not necessarily steer choice, and vice versa. They exist in a self-recursive, never-ending loop.
Mundane activities like burning incense, drinking black coffee, or getting a haircut can feel meaningful. Even acts that bring harm to others—for instance, smoking, smuggling by submarine, inventing explosives, or putting someone on death row—are instilled with meaning.
The concept of meaning is layered and complex. Inseparable from the concept of time, it is furnished with such qualities as coherence and insight, while also being explanatory and predictive. And so, what meaning do I have for a work, or for the world?
Is there meaning after death? Can we find purpose in life in its aftermath?
Humans have the ability to re-examine themselves. They are aware of their own existence and can develop insight into thoughts, emotions, and the depths of what we might call the “innards” of the mind.
In this project, works are exhibited at multiple locations around Chiba City.
