Yoshiaki Kuribara, an artist, has held workshops to make building models with a title “Theme Park of Chiba City” in after-school activities and facilities in several wards of Chiba City.

When I ask people, both children and adults, “can you make a theme park of Chiba City?,” they start to make forms of well-known places they would like to introduce, sceneries which they are the only people who know, and things they are proud of. This workshop provides people an opportunity to reconsider and discover the place they normally live and evoke new interests from other participants’ works.

This exhibition is held at “Chiba Port Tower,” a landmark of Chiba City. About 200 models made in past workshops are collected in one place to create and exhibit a huge building model. How would the collective image of “Chiba City” which local residents see, think and feel look like?

At the venue, a workshop space to build models is prepared, as well as a section to introduce recommended spots in Chiba and a gimmick where the exhibition hall itself

becomes a theme park. We hope you join the participatory exhibition where participants and visitors produce a theme park together as cast!
